FOR PARENTS DEDICATING CHILDREN

Child dedication is a time to thank God for your child, pray for your family, and publicly commit to raising your child to know and follow Jesus. We are glad to walk with you as you take this step.

What dedication means

Dedication acknowledges that your child is a gift from God and that you need Jesus help as a parent. It does not save your child or replace baptism. Salvation is received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. At Old Town, water baptism by immersion is for believers who have placed their faith in Him.

Your commitment as a parent

With God’s help, you are committing to follow Jesus yourself, teach your child His Word, and pray for and with your child. Your example matters. Show the love of Jesus at home, ask forgiveness when you make mistakes, seek the Holy Spirit’s wisdom as you care for your child, and stay connected to your church family for worship, encouragement, and support. You do not need to have every parenting question answered. This commitment expresses your desire to keep following Jesus and help your child come to know Him personally.

What happens during dedication

A pastor will explain dedication, invite you to affirm your commitment, and pray for your child and family. As your church family, we want to support you through prayer, encouragement, and biblical teaching.

The parent commitment is: With God’s help, I commit to follow Jesus, teach my child God’s Word, pray for and with my child, and raise my child in the instruction and love of the Lord.

Preparing your family - beginning at home

Start with a simple rhythm: read a short Bible passage, talk about what it teaches, and pray together in ways your child can understand. Read Mark 10:13-16, Deuteronomy 6:4-9, and Ephesians 6:4 for encouragement about welcoming children and teaching them to follow the Lord

  • Date: Child dedications will be held on November 8th, 2026 (during the 11am service only)

  • You must attend the meeting on November 1st after the 11am service.
